Hello fellow Rotarians!

Your regularly scheduled recap, normally brought to you by President Kris Dirks, is being temporarily interrupted by 2014-15 Past President Jason Chalupnik.  I had the privilege of filling in for Kris this past Wednesday, and  I must say, it was fun to be behind the podium again!

So here is what happened...

We welcomed District Governor Nominee-Designate Marianna Khauv & Monticello Past President Linda Mielke who gave an excellent, and passionate, plea to those who have not served as a Club President to consider stepping up.  As you have heard, our club has two very important board vacancies that need to be filled in the coming weeks... that of President Elect (to serve as President starting July 2019 - June 2020) and also President Elect Nominee (to serve as our Club President starting July 2020 - June 2021).  Have you considered stepping up to serve our club?  If not, what is preventing you?  As Marianna and Linda mentioned, we can all say that we are busy... but remember, serving as a Club President is extremely rewarding... and not as difficult as you might think.  We are fortune enough to have a wonderful and strong board to assist you!  If you are interested, or want more information, please talk with Kris or any Past President for more information.

We presented a $500 donation to Functional Industries to help assist with the purchase of a new passenger van.

We had an outstanding and informative program on the Village of Hope, a project locally partnered by Judy Bergquist, Julie Swaggert and Ron Moore, all from Zion Lutheran Church.  They shared with us how the Village of Hope provides the children of Zambia with essential needs like food, shelter and healthcare, while also providing them with an exceptional education... thus giving them the tools and knowledge to better care for themselves in years to come.  They showed us some of the many opportunities that are available for individuals and our club to assist there.  For more information, check out http://www.akcli-voh.org/
