Congratulations Rita Varner-Otness!

Rita Varner-Otness has been a member of our club since May 1^st, 1988.  She is currently our New Generations Chairperson.  She has been instrumental in continuing our long standing inbound exchange student program.  Until recently she has also been coordinating the outbound exchange student program as well.  She has inspired another member to become engaged into taking on this role allowing Rita to provide oversight when/if necessary.  Instead of having less responsibility in our club she took on the role of creating a STRIVE Program in our club/high school.  She researched the program, convinced our membership of the need and benefits, and then worked with the high school to start the program.  In its first year there are 8 pairs consisting of one student and one Rotarian.  The program has been accepted wonderfully and is being supported by our club with a scholarship at the end of this school year.  Rita is a wonderful member and is truly a perfect example of “Service Above Self”.
